The 2009 contest theme and rules have now been posted at www.nhlibertyessay.com

The theme is Non-violent Resistance and Protest, which is largely inspired by the legacy of Henry David Thoreau.  This legacy continues to influence present day New Hampshire, and included in the recommended reading of the contest is the story of Dave Ridley's odyssey in civil disobedience.

Note the increase in prize money from the previous contest, with a top prize of $200 for the age 18-21 category and a top prize of $100 for the age 17 and under category.

I will use this thread to post any updates or reminders on the 2009 contest.

Thanks,
Jacob

A reminder that essays for the 2009 Liberty Essay Contest are due by May 31.

I have been advertising in the New Hampshire Free Press and in the Ridley Report.  however, if you know of any good e-mail lists to post to about the contest (especially homeshooling lists), this would be a great time to do it!

Thanks,
Jacob

I have awarded two prizes for the 2009 NH Liberty Essay Contest.  The first-prize of $200 was awarded to Andrew Carroll, and the second-prize of $100 was awarded to Garret Ean.  See recent posts for details:

Note that due to general lack of interest in the essay contest, there will be no future contests.
