So now some high up muckity-mucks in the banking world want financial products to be treated as drugs. They say:

I agree.

Because if they did this, then financial products would be like drugs are today -- outlawed, but very common. Illegal, but with a wide variety and availability in the black market. They would, in effect, become less regulated and more available to people, despite being illegal. Heck, let government take over MORE things so that government can live in its own world and people who want to be free can live in theirs.

Not sure I understand. Prescription drugs aren't outlawed, just restricted purchase.
And many of the failures had a ratings system.

I think this is mostly political fluff.

Of course its political fluff. What isn't, when it comes to government? Sadly, so many people still do believe that government is out to help people.
