September 2005 Update

LIBERTY DINNER
This event was well attended and a success by any measure. Great company, great
speakers and some much needed funds were raised to enable the NHLA to support liberty-loving
candidates in upcoming elections. The 2005 Liberty Rating was released, with Representative
Clifford Newton honored with our Legislator of the Year award. Go to www.nhliberty.org
and click on ?€œ2005 NHLA Report Card?€? to view the entire document.

ELECTION FOR NHLA SECRETARY
The nominees are in! Please go to our website and vote for one of the many qualified
nominees to fulfill the role of Secretary.

NON-GOVERNMENTAL CHARITIES
Are you aware of any local nonprofit organizations that do NOT accept any government
funds? If so, please let dmincin@nhliberty.org know. We are trying to compile a
list of such organizations that we can work with and support in the future. So far,
we know of the Liberty Scholarship Fund and the Endocenter of the Merrimack Valley.
We hope to host a Health and Education Fair in 2006 to benefit these two organizations.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY
Many thanks to Brian Pellerin for heading up the NHLA Adopt-A-Highway effort in
the Seacoast area. This is a great way for the NHLA to receive a little publicity
along the NH roadways, as well as an opportunity for members to volunteer to help
make NH a more beautiful state. Thanks also to his tireless crew who got the job
done - Dan and Carol McGuire, Mike Fisher, Jon Bender and Dave Mincin.

LEGISLATIVE TRAINING SESSION
Don Gorman continues to host fun and informative sessions for people seeking to
learn more about the legislative process. For the next session, he plans to have
the group review a few bills and practice formulating arguments for or against these
bills. We will let you know where and when as that information becomes available...

LEGISLATIVE SESSION 2006
Our Representatives and Senators are already busy submitting legislation for the
upcoming session. To view these, go to http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/ns/lsrsearch/
(LSR stands for Legislative Service Request.)

BILL REVIEW 2006
We will be unveiling an improved, high-tech process for reviewing bills for this
next session. We are always in need of additional volunteers to review bills. Bills
will be assigned for specific committees this year, instead of by numerical order.
Please contact Cal Pratt at cpratt@nhliberty.org to volunteer for a committee. We
also need volunteers to track specific bills that are determined to have a potentially
high impact on our liberties.

OUTREACH AND NETWORKING
Don Gorman is looking for volunteers to staff the Deerfield Fair booth that we will
be sharing with Gun Owners of New Hampshire. The fair runs from 9/29 ?€“ 10/2. Please
contact Don at dgorman@nhliberty.org or call him at 463-7771 to volunteer for a
four- hour shift.
