Does making a one time donation mean that I can not subscribe / donate on a monthly basis and make an occasional "bump" to  person / site ?( yes , I am this new  ;D )

PayPal considers it a one-time payment and then a seperate charge for the recurring payment. They want you to make as many transactions as possible, and I'm sure any site/person would be happy to have your money.

I don't think you'll have problems.
