Money As Debt

Carolyn Baker says: "Paul Grignon's documentary is the REAL Economics 101 for the twenty-first century. This crucial information has been kept from us, and we need to learn it and spread it far and wide!"

"Ever wonder why the banks have so much money, while countries and individuals have so much debt? The new video 'Money as Debt', uncovers the many myths and concepts regarding money's history. Everybody loves money, wants it, needs it and depends upon it. What everybody doesn't understand is the basics of money. What is money and where does it really come from? How does the wheel of fortune really work and why don't you have enough of it? These are a few of the many hard realities, Mr.Grignon exposes in simple language. A must see video for every age and station in life. I encourage everyone from teachers to bank employees, accountants, students and everyone in between to invest in this video." ~ Catherine Whelan Costen, Past President , Canadian Action Party.

"The Warning"
Five Authors, One Warning, an audio version of a Film by TruthToPower.tv.

Something very strange has happened in America. Since 2001, America has taken a radical turn – towards surveillance, torture, suppression of dissent, controlled mass media, corporate power, fraudulent elections, a Unitary Executive, and the tipping point away from democracy. The Warning traces the radical steps America has taken toward a new, wholly unconstitutional form of American government. The film features five authors -- Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Naomi Wolf, Chris Hedges, Naomi Klein, and Joe Conason – who speak truth to power, exposing shocking trends towards a police state, an accelerated corporate integration with the state and the blatant subversion of the U.S. Constitution.  This is their warning.  Listen and hear it, before it is too late.

A 1998 Halaqah Media Group/From the Shadows production titled Money.

Some say money is the root of all evil: a tool used by the wicked and the greedy to manipulate and control. Others see it as the key to all life's puzzles. But whatever you believe one thing is for sure, money has a serious control over our lives. It is sought after and fought over. Never has one word meant so much to so many people. Money reaches deep into  our lives and it is the inescapable reality of this western modern civilized illusion. An illusion played out by billions of people daily; the illusion that a piece of paper has value. Money has sculpted our very lives and has been the instrument by which the greedy and ungodly have manipulated major political decisions. But money has also been at the forefront of building great lasting monuments, churches, mosque, museums. Join Halaqah Media as we explore, from an Islamic perspective, the secret history of Money and how it has influenced the world we live in. You will never see money the same again!

Tune in to The Free Speech Zone on Sunday night March 15th at 6:30pm to hear an audio version of the Al Jazeera English video channel documentary program "Dining with Terrorists".  Since the events of September 11, the word "terrorism" has acquired a new political dynamic. Wars are waged and many lives have been lost in the name of combatting "terror" and strict legislation has been passed to prevent acts of "terrorism".  Definitions of these words are highly subjective and what constitutes a "terrorist" depends on where you live and what you believe in.  In this series, author and journalist Phil Rees travels to South Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas to explore the debate surrounding the meaning of the word  "terrorism".  In the two episodes we'll hear tonight, Global Jihad Pakistan and Divided Island, Sri Lanka Tamil Tigers, Rees travels to Pakistan's remote North West Frontier province, the frontline of the west's so-called war on terror. There he meets members of the Taliban and those seeking to combat and eliminate the group, and he travels with Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers and learns why, to their supporters at least, the group are known not as terrorists but "freedom fighters".

Tune in to The Free Speech Zone on Sunday night March 29th at 6:30pm to hear 3 more episodes from the audio version of the Al Jazeera English video channel's documentary program  "Dining with Terrorists".

The episodes we'll hear tonight are:

  1) "Return of the Freedom Fighter" ~  Phil Rees travels to Northern Ireland and Lebanon and concludes that before the 'war on terror' can have its Armistice Day, the West will have to negotiate with those it considers terrorists.

  2) "Fighting occupation" ~ The creation of Israel was a defining battleground in 20th century struggles; where men known as terrorists to their colonial rulers were quickly transformed into statesmen. It is also a defining battleground today in the linguistics used by journalists. The Israeli nation was born using violent methods that some Palestinians espouse today, yet this resistance is generally called terrorism while Israeli violence is often considered self-defence. Phil Rees travels to Gaza and the West Bank and asks: Is what the West calls terrorism, a legitimate response for a nation forced to live under the control of another?

   3)  "America's Backyard -The Farc" ~  Phil Rees travels to Colombia and meets members of the elusive guerrilla group Farc. The group say they are helping the country's poor while the Colombian government and US say Farc is guilty of drug trafficking and the kidnap and murder of civilians.
