Yes, I covet that one  :)  We can't have another cat, though.  It bothers Russell's asthma.

Thanks, guys.

We've known the Momma for about a year. She'd come over once in a while and we'd feed her a can of sammon or tuna. We thought somebody else owned her, and one of the neighbors had said she was hers.

But this winter she was coming over almost every night. One night it was really cold. -13 degrees. and with south dakota wins the ewindchill factor easily subtracts another 10. We let her inside, and she was fine lieing in the floor on our house. Very personable cat. Soon she was coming over every day. She'd spend 3 hours or so a night just lazing in our house. Very affectionate. She'll yell at you if you don't pet her, etc. She'd be in our yard at the door when we were on our way to work as well.  She'd yell at us when we had to put her out -- but we didn't know if she was housebroken or anything about her.

I decided to go knocking on some doors to clarify if anybody owned her. (The person that said it was his, had said, "I guess it's the neighborhood cat" when I pressed him last summer.)

I discovered, the family that used to live at the house where I met this person, was no longer their.

After knocking on a few more doors, (most of them being familiar with the cat, liking her, and wishing she had a home) I talked to one of the neighbors who gushed at me. "Take her in, give her a home."

Apparently it was her son I had spoken to last summer. This was the person I needed to talk to to find some information on her.

She said this cat was a stray. That she'd taken her in last summer the last time she was pregnant. (that was probably her first batch -- she's very young, so we're guessing she's a year and a half - 2 years old now.)  Apparently the kept one of the kittens, took the rest to the human society, then kicked her back out again!

She had told her sons to take her to the human society too, but "they like having her around" but nobody was taking care or her. They sure weren't. They still lived with their mother, so with their mothers blessing, I decided to claim her.

I don't judge her for kicking out the cat, she's got a young kid, etc. But poor kitty. This neighbor thought she'd been sleeping in the storm drain all winter. She said that when she had her, she was litter trained.

We knew she was pregnant, and she had ear-mites, and we wanted to help her out, but we weren't about to put money into a cat that wasn't ours. So when we found out nobody had a claim on her, we took her in.

That was Wednesday when I initially posted this. She had her kittins that next thursday, and they're 2.5 weeks old now.

We're still fighting the ear mites, we couldn't give her the good stuff because she was pregnant, so we have to put drops in her years every other day -- she hates it, but she's very forgiving, she comes back for petting 15 minutes later. She's addapted quite well to being a house cat. We can't have her roming outside with all the animal control laws. I was always scared she'd get picked up or something before we claimed her.

Yet Kat, that's a picture of me holding the kitty. )

I don't think my wife's in any of them because she took them all.

She looks like a very nice cat with super cute kittens-- I'm glad she has a loving home now...

I grew up around cats.  Right now my folks have 6 cats, plus one of my sisters whom is living with them right now.  four of them were strays.  My cat was a stray also.  I had to put him down.   :'(  He was one of the greatest cats i've ever seen.  At times reminded me of a small dog.  After putting him down, I resolved never to have another pet again.  I've since had second thoughts.  I'm thinking about a very friendly big, shorthaired cat.   :P    >:D  When I say big, I am speaking of at least 15 pounds or bigger.  Essentially I want a small dog, without the continous care of a dog.  Hope you can find homes for all the little ones.   :)

We gave Sugar and Spice away at about 8 weeks, then a couple months ago, (2 years later) the owners told us they didn't want them anymore! We had to pay a donation to the human society to rescue them. It took them a couple weeks, because Momma and Callie really didn't remember Sugar and Spice, but they're getting along OK now.

We're all just one big happy family now!
