Has anyone seen "Duplicity", and if so, did it make any sense to you??  Seriously, I'm lost.

So, the two main characters meet in Dubai.  And then they run into each other again in NYC 5 years later.  But then it jumps to two years previously, where they run into each other in Rome and have the exact same conversation they had (will have) in NYC.  So is this supposed to be alternate realities?  WTF?

Lloyd Danforth

I've been near a TV of late and have seen a lot of coming attractions for '2012'.  Anyone know how it turns out?

Tunga

Our heros were duped by the Cosmetic giant with the biggest desk.

He caught wind of the tryst in Dubai because he was there at the time.

He hired his own agents to go to work for the counter intelligence agency (cia) of his competitor.

Then he hired female hero that worked for his agents.

Then his agents hire male hero.

Previously the big desk guy has created an elaborate fake "secret formula" that he just knows his competitor is going to want to steal. He buries any mention of the existence of this non existent "secret laboratory" in subterfuge that feeds the curiosity of his competitors cia to the point where they act to steal the formula at any cost.

The speech to the  shareholders was the end for the paranoid bald guy who really did want the miracle to be true.

But I still don't get the part about having the exact same conversation in two places?  Wait, are you saying there are doubles of the hero/heroine??  FYI, I only watched half the movie and then gave up in disgust.

edit: changed subject line back (Tunga, you wascal  :hopmad: )

Afraid of that.

The heros met in Rome on their second encounter and he gave the speech for real at that time.

Then there was rehearsal in his apartment and then he used it attempting to fake out his handlers knowing his phone was bugged.

The film presented you with the third take of his "I never forget a face" tirade first.

If the Tunga had watched it once or twice more he would be able to tell if Julia Roberts was playing him for big desk guy even before she left the CIA.

Her emotion after watching him having sex while they were "in play" looked genuine and that shows she was duped too but you can't really tell till the sequel. Revlon's revenge?

The time line and story line are all screwy.

OK, thanks, Tunga.  So if I had kept watching it, it would have made more sense.

Friday, I'm very concerned that things make more sense to you when Tunga helps explain them.  ;D
