The rough chronology is :  arrest,  release (small bail or personal recognance (sic) ) a month or so later an arraignment where you enter a plea and then they schedue the trial.  Preceding the trial will be time for discovery, motions to be filed, threats from the prosecutor etc.    The whole process could take a few months.

What they usually do is try to scare you with what they COULD do to you in hope you will plea to a lesser charge and fine.

If you need any help constructing a defense there are some people who may be willing to talk to you.   I'm willing to tell you what I've learned about the process, your particular "crime" and help you out if I can or just be available to kick ideas around.

My 2 cents (might be all it's worth)

Be wary of the deal that includes probation...
Most people think "Great, I don't have to go to jail." But you are under their thumb for the whole period and if they say you violated the conditions you get the whole sentence, without a trial.

Do you need help getting the other car out?  It'll cost a lot more if you wait.

Look for a FB introduction to Lance.  He's a new mover and criminal defense attorney.  He likes to sue cops.
