Friday

Moon: full (or thereabouts)
Sky: clear and full o' stars
Temperature: dropping like a stone  :o
Protective gear: heavyweight wool sweater, wool pea coat, angora gloves
Condition report: lips numbing;  ears aching;  nose running
Warning from the Free State Weather Service: those with testicles may find them retreating into body cavity; briefs, not boxers, are strongly recommended
Other night prowlers about: very few

The LED sign at Pappy's Pizza reports 29degrees F and all is well.  Hold your sweetie tight, it's gonna be coooooooold tonight!

Note to self:
Steer into the skid, do NOT pump the anti-lock brakes. Steer into the skid, do NOT pump the anti-lock brakes. Steer into the skid, do NOT pump the anti-lock brakes.

I like the visual of pointing where you want to go instead of steering into the skid .... it seems more basic to me.
Sometimes it is better to not even touch the brakes ...... need to get those wheels turning the same speed as the car.

Steer to safety ..... easy on the brakes. :)

I know ..... unsolicited advice. You have a great car for winter ..... front wheel drive most of the time .... 4 wheel if you need to go up a hill. 8)

Suppose to be 19 tonight.
I guess I will fire up the wood stove tonight!

Can't wait for some snow! . . . Don't get to use these snowshoes all that often; hope I can start early this year.

Holiday Edition of the Night Prowler's Report

stars: obscured by thick layer of snow-brewing clouds  :o
air: laden with the delightful smell of wood smoke  8)
autumn leaves: scuttling across the ground and performing aerial acrobatics in the wind
ground: clean and dry; enjoy it while you can!
hands: numb nose: running ears: aching yadda yadda
wind: fleece piercing
other prowlers afoot: only saw one

They've recently installed a flag pole in front of General Stark's house (a bit cheesy and out of place, IMHO), and the Stars and Stripes are snapping in the stiff breeze.
