ROCHESTER — A mother of three was arrested after police, sent to check on the welfare of her three children, found her and her boyfriend hiding in the living room and three marijuana plants on the kitchen window sill.

Kandi Johnson, 26, of 10A Myrtle St., was arrested on charges of possessing marijuana. She was not charged with any assault or abuse of the children — an 18-month-old boy, 5-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl. All three were unattended in different areas of the apartment and were in good health and free of injuries, police said.

The incident began shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday when someone called police concerned about a young boy in the apartment. The caller said a woman was threatening to harm the child and the boy was screaming.

Police said the residents refused to answer the door when they arrived and, from the driveway, they could see people trying to hide in a front room. They could also see three marijuana plants on the kitchen window will.

Officers, fearing a child was injured, kicked in the rear door to find the mother and her boyfriend hiding in the living room and the children OK in other rooms of the apartment.

Johnson is free on personal recognizance bail with a Sept. 12 hearing in Rochester District Court.

"fearing a child was injured" kicked in a door

I also like the reference to "unattended" children. Some might also call that "playing in their rooms"

cultivation penalties in the Live Free or Die State...
1 oz to 5 lbs (first offense)    felony up to 7 years and up to $100,000 fine

I guess that might be why they were frightened and tried to hide.

Next time someone says that they want to decrim less than a quarter oz possession slap them in the face and tell them that the real reform in NH needs to be the draconian cultivation penalties.

The terror has just begun for these poor victims.

Rant over...

"Ya Sarg, they're in there together hiding on the couch; they're using the sounds and lights from the TV as cover."
"Do you see the children any where?"
"No."
"That means the children are unattended, probably injured and need our help!  Everyone get ready to shoot the dog!"

This would be funny if it wasn't so damn sad.  :(

and you are right that bad stuff will be in their future

don't we all have pot plants in our windows .... oh they are pot-ted

I hate to think what they will "plea" to with those kinds of numbers. Maybe they will just hand over the kids to the state.
If they go to jail will that leave the children .... unattended?

Hey Roger ... if they threaten me with 1 year in jail for chalking a building ..... I guess it follows that you get a few years for a harmless plant.

I felt guilty for giving Jim a +1 for that. :/

This is very sad. but this is the norm for for the newage cop-goons and their mindset.  There are really creating an US versus THEM. The raid on the Rawesome natural food plant has really made headlines and created more and more "awakenings."  People all over the country are calling these goon actions a terrorist attack. This is why the internet has become such a wonderful tool for freedom.

I would NOT want to be a nazi cop in this day and age.

Hopefully NH will follow the other states and decrim weed and allow MMJ.

Now that there's a script with the basic wording, any schmoe can place a call to have ANYONE "investigated."  A few more "awakenings" in the right circles, and some real change might be seen!

Facebook has also been beneficial in exposing freedom issues and corruption. Insomuch as it's getting harder and harder to post anti gov stuff on there with tons of strict moderation as of late.

IMO I believe "those in charge" are purposely being provocative because their main goal is to creat civil war at multiple levels. The perfect pretext to apply Martial Law and put tanks in the streets.

We will be here to witness it all.
