Suspicionless searches are now standard fare for our younger law-abiding citizens. Springfield Public Schools coordinates with the Greene County Sheriff's Department to perform dragnet searches. A 2010 incident involved students and teachers being told leave their belongings while exiting their classrooms. Officers from the Greene County Sheriff's Department proceeded to rifle through bags and other belongings. Drug sniffing dogs also made the rounds.

The Rutherford Institute filed suit regarding that particular 2010 incident on behalf of one family. School officials responded to the complaint by stating that the incident was part of a standard drill. They stated five such lockdowns occur each year and would continue.

Defendants in the Complaint:
Norm Ridder, Superintendant of Springfield Public Schools
Ron Snodgrass, Principal of Central High School
James Arnott, Greene County Missouri Sheriff
