Vt. State Police: Cause of death in stun gun incident weeks away

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Vermont State Police say it will be several weeks before autopsy results are released for a Thetford man who died Wednesday after being hit with an electric stun gun by a state trooper.

Thirty-nine-year-old Macadam Mason was declared dead at a New Hampshire hospital after being shocked with a Taser stun gun during an altercation with police. Police were responding to a report that a suicidal Mason was threatening to harm himself and others when police say Mason, who was unarmed, came after a trooper.

An autopsy was performed Thursday by the New Hampshire medical examiner's office. But Vermont State Police Detective Sgt. Tara Thomas says the cause and manner of Mason's death won't be known for sure until additional toxicology tests are completed in several weeks.

Whatever could have killed that poor man?  It's such a mystery.
