Nice article that Tim Condon wrote.  :) It even features the Tour de Shire, Exploring the Free State, New Hampshire, Grafton Apple Festival 2012:D 8)

One point that kind of soured it for me is his solution is to raise the funds to pay the property tax. It's not my church, my town or my decision, but perhaps the money raised should be put into an escrow and used to show good faith while the powers that be decide if they will actually attack their local, historic church.

I can't see paying the taxes. It would be easier to fill out their forms and such, if john wanted to bow. Which I don't think he wants to. :-)

I agree.  If this is going to go to the courts at this point, then I'd say put the money in escrow and ask for an injunction barring the Town from taking the property, pending a decision on the matter.  There's no point in actually paying the thieves, if you can avoid it.

There are benefits and drawbacks to the legal path, but if that's the path that's been decided, then putting the money in escrow rather than paying it to the Town makes a lot more sense.
