Someone handed us this horrible newspaper from Hillsboro...it's full of mean-spirited gossip about who's been arrested, how much people owe on their mortgages and such.  Anyway, I was surprised to see an article about John Babiarz.  Here is it if you want to read it.

Fluff and Stuff

That article seemed silly.

Under are current system, I agree that privatizing prisons is a bad idea.

CCA is to corrections what Halliburton is to defense.

Take a look at free55's objections to school vouchers, and you'll see what privatization doesn't work for prisons. Private companies can reject transfer of any inmate with disciplinary problems. They wind up with those who should be no problem, yet they still wind up with riots, escapes, and disturbances more often than government prisons. And then the government has to pay the lawsuits, and usually has to pay repair costs, too.

I'm all in favor of eliminating my own job. If federal crimes were limited to those authorized by the Constitution, we'd only have a few dozen federal inmates, who could be boarded in county or state facilities.

Instead of privatizing prisons, reduce the need by decriminalizing 99% of the crap that causes people to be locked up.
