Unanswered questions leave Real ID in limbo

By GARRY RAYNO

Concord ? Gov. John Lynch says too many questions remain about the state's proposed Real ID program for the Executive Council to approve a $3 million federal grant.

At a press conference after the Executive Council meeting yesterday, Lynch, who supported legislation to prohibit the state from implementing the Real ID driver's license program, said he is concerned about the state's costs of implementing the program, the privacy of New Hampshire citizens and putting Division of Motor Vehicles workers on the front lines of homeland security.

Lynch has yet to put the grant on the council's agenda although the Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee approved the grant earlier this month.

"We need to resolve these issues before we go forward with the contract," Lynch said. New Hampshire and one other state were to be the first to implement the program, but many in state government here balked at being a pilot program for what they believe to be a national ID system.

Sounds like this is, at least, a temporary win.  It seems like pressure still needs to be applied on Lynch to keep him from sending the issue to the EC, though.

What is the other state that was chosen to be the first?

Sounds like its time for another Kentucky Resolution!
I don't see any organized opposition to Real-ID in Kentucky.
I'd say it's time for some targeted marketing to anyone in KY who sees what is going on, is mad as hell, but doesn't know what to do about it any more.

Google AdWords are cheap; for $30 you can buy a month of advertising. Put key words like "Kentucky KY Real-ID" and direct them to NHFree.com or freestateproject.org
Here's an example and instructions:

Come on, somebody step up to the plate on this one!!  8)
