The subject's first encounter with the clerk was reasonable enough. But then things deteriorated.  The town is probably right about what NH law requires.

I'll note that some folks don't fret a government-sanctioned marriage, much less one performed in another state, which NH officially doesn't recognize. The Kat formerly known as "Dillon" comes to mind. Somehow, I don't think there was any official government paperwork involved in that name change.  ;D
