One (or more) of the things...

One (or more) of the things I'll enjoy once I get out of here (here being "not New Hampshire"):

I live in Clifton, NJ, right on the border of Paterson.  It so happens that five times in the past two days (it was four up until 30 seconds ago!), the fire alarm across the street has been going off, with the fire department being called out twice.

I don't think this has anything in particular to do with New Jersey vs. New Hampshire (and the fire alarm stopped sounding again)... it's just plain annoying.  Granted, this is far more urban than any place I've lived before.

And there it goes again!  (I was reviewing smilies and picked this one which pretty much describes how I've been feeling lately: :atlas:)  That makes six times!

I know that I'll enjoy the fact that there are far fewer people around!  And maybe, like, I can actually get to know the ones that are around.

OK, that's seven.  It keeps tripping, then resetting.  That's four times in the past twenty minutes.

Also, if I ever decide to get directly involved in non-violent protest and end up having to be arrested or something... well... I weigh almost 300lbs.  Let's see them drag me around.  I think that more than one police officer would be complaining about a sore back, then!

The fire alarm was silent for about 30 seconds, then started going off again.  Does that make this eight times now?  I don't even get to write more than a paragraph before it starts going off again.

Anyways, I guess that's it for now.  There are certainly many more things I won't miss about New Jersey (high cost of living, punitive tax rates, etc.) and I know that New Hampshire isn't perfect, but it'll be part of the plan to help make it so.

Again!  It reset and is now going off again after but a fifteen second pause this time.  Does that make this the ninth time?  I feel kind of bad for the people living in that building.  My girlfriend is referring to this as "the building that cried 'wolf.'"  She figures that if there ends up being a REAL fire there, nobody will show up.  As it is, no fire trucks have shown up this entire time.

Well, that's it for me.  I feel bad for the girlfriend as she has to stay home and listen to the alarm going off all day (she's got a nasty cold).

Gonna go off to work.  Hah.

Oh, and before I leave (heh), I had a telephone interview at the University of New Hampshire in Durham on Wednesday, and I think it went fairly well.  After I get myself settled in NH, I plan on (at least) paying off my debt and making my income and assets invisible.

Oh, and I may try some activism, too.  You never know.
