Wow, Caleb...that was powerful.

The photo from my living room was shocking.

Many of the photos needed some extra explanation - Kennedy's body, what are you trying to convey?  Pictures of 9/11 might say various things to people, unless you want to make it clear it was an inside job.  What are the deformed baby pictures?  Is that from agent orange?  What are you trying to say with the IMF?

Caleb

yeah ... I told Russell he was going to make a cameo in my video.  :)

With the specific frames, several of them are less than ideal.  But it's challenging to communicate some of these ideas without words.  I debated putting a few frames in there that explained things like the IMF (the other one that sort of doesn't make any sense unless you know its history is the frame which shows the School of the Americas.)  But ultimately, I didn't want any words in the video, just images.  So hopefully people who see it will say "What's the IMF?" or "What's the School of the Americas?" and do some research on their own.

Hollywood doesn't like the frame of Ruby Ridge, but once again, that frame was chosen not so much because it's the best picture, but because it explains a little bit.  I thought that a picture from Ruby Ridge itself would be confusing.

With Kennedy, I don't really want to say anything other than that it happened.  It was a dark moment in our history.  Same with 9/11 ... even more so with 9/11 because whether you believe the government actively did it or not ... it's obvious that if we were not such a meddling force in the world that it would not have happened at all.

The deformed babies were deformed because of agent orange.  I debated how to make that clear.  That would have been a good place for an explanative frame if I had wanted to go that way, but in the end I went with a frame just prior to it that had a plane spraying agent orange with a little caption at the top that says "Agent Orange".  Hopefully most people make the connection.  If not, at least hopefully they realize that the babies are deformed because of something the government did.

I feel bad you subjected yourself to how many weeks listening to GnR.  Great piece of work though!

I go tthe Agent Orange thing.  It took a few frames to decode the earlier Shock-and-Awe frame.

The towers seemed chronologically out of order, compared to the rest.  But that just made me spend a few more cycles thinking about it.

In the credits: have you considered a Creative Commons license?

The work is a mashup, and there are communities cropping up that feed off of each other for materials centered around the CC licenses.

Fluff and Stuff

You opened up the picture show with a joke- Bush saying something wrong.  So, considering that you are smart, you did mean that as a joke, right?  Are you trying to show in the picture show that even though Bush misspoke, what he said actually has some truth to it?  That's what I get from the video.  That, sometimes the government actually does things that hurt the American people (and not just the world as Bush meant to say).

Great video Caleb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you tell me what software you used to make it???

Caleb

Stuff,

that's exactly the point, although it's subtle so I doubt most people will catch it.

Bush misspoke, he obviously didn't intend to say that he wants to harm americans.

But the first line of the Guns and Roses song begins, "what we have here is a failure to communicate...." so the idea I have, at least, is that he misspoke, it was a miscommunication, but the rest of the video shows how truthful he really was, even without intending it.

Guns and Roses rocks!  :icon_drummer:  :broc: :worship:

Dreepa

How could you not like the 'rockin' GNR?

That quote is from 'Cool Hand Luke' I think.

I would like to make a critique about the video I did not see any pic's from the Kent State massacre in there and I think it would have fit in pretty well. I realize you can't insert photographs and drawings from every terrible act the government has committed.

Caleb

slim,

Good idea!  I may update it, as hollywood has given me some good ideas to rearrange a few frames, and I do think Kent State would fit well in there.

I used Windows Movie Maker.  I know, I know.  Windows.  But the software was already on my computer, so I thought I'd try it out.

That's sort of the idea, Michael.  Think of how traumatizing it was to those who actually are victims of what Americans pay for their government to do.

For those who are interested, I've updated the video a little.
