Diesel Tax?

Someone told me there is an annual tax for owners of diesel vehicles?  Is that true?

I haven't been hit with any special tax, but, that claim sounds familiar.

At least, no tax other than what you're currently paying on diesel fuel, right?

There wasn't such an item broken out on my tax bill. My 1984 Mercedes 300D was taxed based on its original selling price of $31,000. I spent $1,000 for it!!!!!!

I had been talking to some other people from work a while back.  It seems that NH used to add an extra tax on the registration for diesel vehicles.  I've never had to pay it, and I've been here since 2001.
