Those of you/us not signed up for DownsizeDC yet, stop reading here for one minute and sign up:

I donate monthly to it and FTL.

Now for the email I just spammed all my friends with below

Many of you know what the FISA court is, if not read up on a BRIEF description: http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=71.

There is a new CLASSIFIED BILL making its way through legislation beyond the reach and review of the public.  It can only be bad:  The FISA court is the secret court that the federal government must seek permission through for fast-track wiretapping and secret home invasions.  Or at least, it is now, it may tomorrow be the group of unknown people that grants the federal government the ability to carte blanche hoover up ALL CALLS and internet logs.  The bill is an attempt to legalize broad based surveillance across the board as not being individually targeted and thus beyond the need for even a secret court's approval.  See, secretly knowing the private conversations of a list of citizens is now abhorrent, but all encompassing  omniscience is considered good security.  You can trust them, they're the government.

So non-intrusive, cuddly, and benign in fact is this idea that it has to be presented as a CLASSIFIED bill beyond public review!

Go read what DownsizeDC has to say (or not, they can't read it either!) and tell your representative via there one-click spamming that if a bill is so despicable it can't see the light of day, then stuff itl where the sun don't shine.   http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=71

Below is the message I sent.  Please try and include the snipurl.com link I generated, our reps likely don't have copies of this bill for review either.

The Honorable James Langevin

Please oppose the so-called "FISA Modernization Act" being pushed by the Bush administration.

My personal comment to you:

Hon. James Langevin,

Please take extra care representing your constituents when considering bills classified above general public access.  My opinion is to lean towards opposing bills that can not, by its very nature, be presented to the public before being imposed on the public.  This is a very succinct example of what a representative government is for.

If you would like, please review the seven page PDF critic of the unclassified version of the bill at: http://snipurl.com/1k228

You are still my only representative that  responds to my letters and I am very appreciative of your time.  Thank you.

John Gilmore's failed lawsuit against the fedgov put the peasants on notice that secret laws, where you peasants are bound by them yet can't read them, are perfectly okay by the gov't and the courts.

Am I suprised that the gov't is making further use of secret proceedings?

Nope.
