all governments are mafias. The American mafia is the best because it gives more for our money, but both political parties are families of that same mafia. On one hand you have the Democrats, who are genuinely stupid. They think America's problems can all be solved from Washington, DC. At the same time, Democrats tend to be kind of nice people. But the Republicans understand mafia power is about fear. They are a bunch of mean repressive motherfuckers and always have been.

He was a Harvard researcher.... hardly an idiot. He was foolishly optimistic that LSD and mushrooms would somehow change the fundamental of humanity. That was naive, but not stupid.

My favorite Leary story is nicely summarized in the wikipedia article:

Leary received a ten-year sentence for his 1968 conviction. When Leary arrived in prison, he was given psychological tests that were used to assign inmates to appropriate work details. Having designed many of the tests himself (including the "Leary Interpersonal Behavior Test"), Leary answered them in such a way that he seemed to be a very conforming, conventional person with a great interest in forestry and gardening.[4]

As a result, Leary was assigned to work as a gardener in a lower security prison, and in September 1970 he escaped.

To determine what kind of prison to put him in, the government goons gave him the psychological test... that he himself had designed!
