Sup guys and gals. Two of us first 1000 coming up for Porcfest and planning to stay. We haven't had a chance to come up to NH yet, so we're gonna need a little help. We're looking to stay in Manchester.

I have stuff I gotta bring, not much, but won't fit in the car. Best option right now looks like shipping it to a Porc in NH and picking up the stuff when I get there. If anyone could recieve my stuff for me I'd greatly appreciate it. If not I can find other arrangements, but this would be convenient.

Onto the questions.

We'll need a little help finding work and an apartment. Any online NH classifieds better than Craigslist that we can look at until we get up there?

Is there anything besides license and registration that we're supposed to get when we move? Anything special we'll have to do to change legal state of residence?

Does NH Issue CHPs at 18 or 21? In most states it's 21 but I can't find anything specific in NH.

More questions likely to come if I think of anything else. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have to sigh when I read about people making the move when they don't appear to be prepared.  We've seen a lot of them end sadly.  That being said, here's what help I have to offer:

You can try the "big" sites like [http://www.monster.com/]Monster.com and [http://www.jobsinnh.com/]JobsInNH.com, and others, as far as finding employment.  Many of the newspapers are online, so you can search their classified sections.

Some don't even bother with those things, however if you are concerned with legal state of residence, your driver's license would be sufficient, and they don't like it if you get a NH license but don't register your car here, so if you do get a license you probably should do that, as well.

NH has no minimum age requirement.  If you want one, you apply to your local police chief.  It's a one-page application that asks the standard questions (eg, "are you a felon?" and such).  The chief may not add anything to the application (some individual ones have tried requiring fingerprints, photos, or whatnot, but that it not allowed, legally).  Where it asks for "purpose," either "all proper purposes" or "self defense" are considered acceptable.

I thought I heard something about someone under 18 getting one.  If your not in a vehicle and it's not concealed, you don't even need one.

Looks like Joe replied before I did.

Yup.  And the youngest recipient I'm aware of was 12.

To echo Kat's comments, the more preparation you can muster, the better off you'll be in the short and long run whether or not you're moving to New Hampshire.

Also, if you're planning on being politically involved, I will caution that if you've never done it before, you're in for a surprise.  Politics is a business of coercion, and if that bothers you, you'll have some minority support, but not in the FSP at large.

The FSP advocates nothing....

Many of the movers from the FSP are very involved in politics in NH.  In fact I would say the majority of the movers so far not the minority.
