I know this has been talked about before  but I will bring it up again.

We hear of people wanting to move but no money (mostly younger kids).
What if we had some sort of fund that would help them (once they get here).  Something like $500 (or $1000) to tide them over.
They would sign something saying that they would pay it back over time (a year, 6 months) with interest?  Then the money could be used  for the next mover.  (We could even put some conditions on the money if people thought we needed to.
If the people on this forum all kicked in a buck we would have $500 easy.
I was thinking that someone trustworthy could hold the money (Cathleen comes to mind).

this thread is in a place that many people ignore

It seems most people want to keep their money and then give it to people they know instead of having some organization do it. Maybe it could be small enough that people would be willing to help.

I am hoping to keep giving people affordable housing to help the move. :)

I agree that it shouldn't be an org... it would just be 'the people of NHFREE'.

I would love to see something like this.
I like to give to people with a plan and have done their homework.
I wonder if there is a way to better organize all the moving information people have gathered?  It would have to be extensive so people can get a real idea of what they can do and and how much it costs.  In planning my move I was lucky to have moved interstate before and I know what needs to be done.  Young people have more flexibility but not the logistics of making a big move.  Any ideas about going forward with making a moving guide.

Anyone serious about dedicating time and/or resources to this might want to contact Tim Condon, I think he's working on something vaguely similar.

I will contact Tim Condon about this.

I was also thinking a general guide on things to remember to do for a move if you have never done a interstate move.
It should include things like utility companies and how to get them to give you real information when you don't live at your new place yet.
What the difference between credit unions and banks in NH is and alternatives to these institutions.
what dmv hassles to expect and what you need to bring if you go to the dmv.
A list of things one should need in NH that they might not need in other parts of the Country.
And a whole bunch of useful information so people don't have to keep reinventing the wheel.
The FSP link has a lot of stats to pick a region but not on making the nuts and bolts of the move easier.
I know there are a lot of threads on various topics on different forums but something very user friendly would be amazing.
Then expand it to include regional stuff like can I get take out at 10:00pm in Keene on a Tuesday?

I think I have found a good first project  :help:
