This is an excellent reason to call your State Rep and complain about tax dollars being spent to bust people who weren't harming anybody!

You might be surprised, at least 1-2 of your Reps in particular may well agree with you.
Another few would probably listen with an honest open mind if you sound remotely reasonable.

I would also suggest framing your complaint in terms of the police waisting your tax dollars and their own time, when they could be going after worse crimes. Find out if there are any serious crimes in Kingston that are currently being investigated: "Why do we have a dozen cops bothering with this crap, when such-and-such murder/rape/robbery hasn't been solved yet?"

Marijuana reformers around the country have had some success with this—not overturning the laws themselves, but forcing police departments to deprioritize enforcement.

Socially conservatives will be a lot more receptive to this argument than you trying to say this shouldn't've happened because prostitution ought not be illegal.
