I'm a firm believer in accountability of those we've handed power to. I believe we need to start prosecuting for treason again. I believe we need to start using the wonderful failsafe of impeachment that our forefathers provided us with to keep our leaders accountable. Most importanly though (to me), and possibly the most out of hand, is the abuse by law enforcement of any stripe.

ALL of our civil servants take an oath to our Constitution. Yet a very large percentage of them have no reservations about behaving contrary to their sworn status. When it happens, we the people have little recourse. We're intimdated to level a civil suit to defend ourselves, the process is costly and far more time consuming than the initial infraction, and those that are leveled get little attention.

What about the police that are caught falsifying reports, trafficking drugs and guns, abuse the very people that gave them power in the first place, and so on? When these CRIMINALS are caught, they are given slaps on the wrist at best. Which I find deeply insulting as a firearm owner because of the way our leaders and civil servants treat firearm possession. In some cases, it is used as a sentence enhancer. Why isn't law enforcement status similarly used as a sentence enhancer? You don't slap them on the wrist, you come down on them harder.

I thought I'd spark a conversation on this. For many here, this is not in the abstract as you already have federal agents kicking around in your backyard, hunting innocents, and violating their own sworn status in so doing. I'd like to see what everybody has to say about these things.
