FEMA Deputy Administrator Harvey Johnson talks about the agency's response to the California wildfires at the FEMA press briefing room in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007. It was later revealed that reporters were not given adequate time to travel to the event, so instead, the agency's public affairs staff asked questions. The decision prompted backlash from the media, DHS and the White House.

Ha!

Yet another thing for me to make fun of, once I'm done with the huge backlog of other things I have to make fun of.

They called it an error in judgement. I call it psychosis. They guy on the corner talking to himself = FEMA talking to itself. I don't see much difference.

Unbelievable!  The excuse of reporters not given adequate time to travel seems like bull to me too.  Reporters are always everywhere, aren't they? :-\

Lewrockwell.com had one of the most priceless quotes I have ever seen concerning this situation.

"Only Gogol or perhaps Orwell could do this justice. And Mencken somewhere is laughing uproariously:
Government agency employees pose as journalists pretending to ask questions to same government agency employees about other government employees from same agency pretending to help people whose homes were burned up.
It is a full circle. Pure art."
