I heard that a guy who was arrested on Thursday was from our neighborhood.  This man was arrested for assult against a  5 year old.

How do I request this information from the PD?  Is this freedom of information or public record that I can request?

Are you in NH?

It will probably be in RSA Section 91 The Right to Know law.
