Supposedly, in NY city, for the last gop convention, they set up a warehouse as a makeshift internment camp/holding cell for the anti gop protesters. 
The gop can have their little orgasm of facism, I have my own plans.

The point of the Welcoming Committee is not to piss off the Republican Party (although this is one fortuitous side-effect): this convention has the same explosive potential (pardon the pun) as the Democratic convention of 1968; it provides a rare opportunity, not only to gain exposure, but also, through direct action, to disrupt the activities of the ruling class.

N.B. Similar plans are in motion for the 2008 Democratic convention.

Actually, I think that's backwards. The last one I recall, anyway, there was no free speech zone at the GOP convention but there was one at the Democrat convention. There was a fenced off area that was packed with people. At the GOP convention, there are pics of naked hippies wandering the streets with letters painted on their bodies so they could line up to spell things and stuph like that.

The 2004 Democratic National Convention was in Boston. They had fenced-off areas for protesters, and guards (not police—something military, National Guard perhaps?) with automatic weapons patrolling the area. The Orange Line subway passed under the location of the convention, so they were stopping the trains at the previous stop and searching everyone's bags.
