Need a new emergency phone list

Yet another example of sucking the federal teat, in an obvious example of trying to catch local crimes (DWI, etc.)

The overtime is sweeter when Uncle Sugar is footing the bill, and you don't have to answer to the people who normally pay your salary...

Anyone else want to be added to the emergency call list?

It came up when shots were being fired at the Browns - if you're on this list, do you want to be called in the middle of the night?  I hesitated to call anyone and only called Lauren/Jim when it was almost morning.

Dear Friends,

Got the call last night on the emergency phone tree.

Since I seem to be out the end of a branch, instead of calling other people, I have spent the hours since then contacting folks on various forums to which I'm subscribed if the topic is at least justifiable for that venue.

In particular, as I used to live in Texas, I've spread quite a bit of word about the Reno Gonzales situation down in Alice (Jim Wells County) Texas. 

Donna VanMeter has posted a number of thoughts, including federal and local law enforcement phone numbers, as replies on one of the Ed & Elaine blogs on MySpace.

Those of you who are in to social networking sites, or discussion lists, might do well to join the emergency phone list and spread the word when things happen.

To further horrify you into action, I am copying some of Donna's words below.

the local police in Alice illegally busted into Renos home without a
warrant, and without telling him what charges are against him. they
abused him while he was laying asleep in bed. not one agent wants to
abide to the letter of the law, they dont give a sh!t about our
constitution and have asked toooo many questions about E+E. People once
again another fellow american has been unlawfully taken into custody,
someone whom has stood up for your rights, please stand up for him and
the others that are about to face the same BULL SH!T!

"they made me stand in the f#cking texas sun for 4 hours in nothing but
a f#cking bath towel handcuffed trying my best not to loose it or the
towel, in front of the neighbors and all the jerks that were infringing

videos, and know the truth! he said well all of you are alive right now,
and i said yes thank you for knocking down the door before turning this
into a texan BBQ, and he still wanted to be like we dont kill people,
and i said tell that to Randy Weaver and his kids, i watched as you
killed innocent people and im not stupid. and the rest of us arent
stupid we see your crimes, and he told me to not what the news says, i
scoffed and told him they work for you dont they ya know the media...."

I'll update the emergency phone list again.  If you want a call when something big is happening, PM me your phone number.  Also, let me know if you want to be called in the middle of the night (this came up once and I wasn't really sure if people wanted to be called at 3am).  In a few days, I'll send out the list to everyone who's signed up for it.  If you get one of these calls, it'd help if you call a few more people on the list.
