Hello...and property question

Hi,  my name is Scott and I have been a fan of NH since I visited (but didn't attend) NHTI in Concord way back in '91.  I'm currently stuck in the PRNJ, but have had the intent of moving to NH "someday".  Well, I was intrigued by the FSP and followed the whole selection process, and was happy that NH won!  Living in a top-tier Nanny-State, it is a goal of mine to move to NH where freedom means a little more in general than it does here.  In that light, I registered as a "friend of the FSP" and even ordered a shirt (although I didn't get it yet  :'(  )

Anyway, there are a few things that are going on im my life that will not allow me to make a permanant  move to NH right now, but I am starting to think about maybe a little "vacation place" type situation.  Maybe a little place with a few acres, just to ease into the whole thing and be a real part of the movement.  (my dream would be to have a place where I could shoot right on the property!   ;D Shooting in NJ is a real problem.  Few ranges, and none are really useful for anything but stationary target-shooting - yawn.)

My only real concern is how does one maintain or manage a property that is so far away from the primary residence?  I was thinking maybe I could rent it to other people who were visiting NH to offset the cost a little, but still, I couldn't really get up to NH more than maybe once per month do maintain the place.

Has anyone else done this?  How did you manage the property if you couldn't be there too often?  I'm just looking for ideas and opinions right now.  Thanks!

I'm not sure what you can do, but definitely talk to Dave Mincin if you're looking for real estate.  Land's pretty expensive here, like it is in any coastal state nowadays, but that will change when our economy implodes.   ;D

What's taking you so long to get to New Hampshire?  ???  We need you!!!

Thanks,  I'll keep the name in mind...My wife needs to finish up with grad school first - then we can consider a move.

You could buy some land a little further North and it is much cheaper.

You could probably get an agency to 'manage' the place if you rent it out.

Maybe get 2-3 other FSPers in NE, NJ, NY to go in with you... then you can all maintain it and all get a feel for NH.

I imagine you could hire a freestater to maintain the property while you were away.
