I'll just post what I received on this protest from NH Peace Action:
--------------------------------------------------

On Friday, the presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama and
Senator Clinton are scheduled to appear together in the little town
of Unity around 12 noon. Please join us with creative signs and
energy in calling for an end to the Iraq war with the safe, orderly
and speedy withdrawal of all US troops, contractors, and bases from
Iraq.

Come tell Obama and Clinton WE WANT THE OCCUPATION OF IRAQ TO END NOW.

Unity Elementary School
Unity Center, New Hampshire
10 AM, Friday June 27th 2008

Unity Center is hardly more than a bump on the road from Claremont to
Lempster (the Second NH Turnpike). It promises to be an absolute
madhouse on Friday with hardly any parking.

We will meet at 10 AM at the Center Cemetery, which is one mile west
of Unity Center and march as a group to the Center (via Center Road),
leaving at 10:30.

The school is about 0.2 miles to the left of the
Common (towards Claremont) on the Turnpike.

Lots of "Out of Iraq NOW" and "Bring Them Home NOW" signs will be
available.

For information call Jim at 603-542-6124 or Anne at 603-520-0839 (cell).

DIRECTIONS to the Center Cemetery (somewhat circuitous in order to
avoid the congestion at Unity Center):

COMING FROM NEWPORT
1) From the stoplight at the south end of Newport (on Routes 11 &
103) turn right and go 0.6 miles.
2) Turn left onto Unity Road and go 4.4 miles.
3) Turn right onto Gilman Pond Road and go 2.9 miles.
4) Stop at the stop sign at the Second NH Turnpike and then continue
straight across on North Shore Road 1.4 miles.
5) At the 4-way stop sign (near Crescent Lake) turn right (west) onto
Cold Pond Road and go 0.6 miles.
6) Turn right onto Center Road and go 1.6 miles.
7) When Center Road turns a sharp right, turn left instead onto
Carrol Brook Road.
8) Immediately on the right is the Center Cemetery.
9) Park compactly on the grass in front of the cemetery fence.

COMING FROM CHARLESTOWN (OR CLAREMONT)
1) Turn to the east from Routes 11 & 12 onto Unity Stage Road and go
2.9 miles.
2) At the "Bridge Closed" sign continue straight ahead on a dirt road
detour 1.0 miles.
3) After crossing the metal Bailey bridge turn left and go 3.1 miles.
4) Turn left onto Center road and go 1.6 miles.
5) When Center Road turns a sharp right, turn left instead onto
Carrol Brook Road.
6) Immediately on the right is the Center Cemetery.
7) Park compactly on the grass in front of the cemetery fence.

"As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression.
In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains
seemingly unchanged. And it is in such a twilight that we all
must be most aware of change in the air--however slight---lest
we become unwitting victims of the darkness."

More info from the organizers:
----------------------------------

Some people have wondered how thoroughly the police will be shutting down the little town of Unity tomorrow and whether the plan outlined below will work.

There is encouraging news!

We have been assured by Captain Dennis O'Sullivan of the Sullivan County Sheriffs Department (which functions as Unity's police
department) that signs CAN be carried on the public highway and that there should be no problem driving up the Center Road as far as the cemetery (see the directions below).

There may very well be a police presence at the turn onto Center Road (see the directions below). Tell the officers that you are NOT driving to Unity Center and that you have been assured by Captain O'Sullivan that it's OK to drive as far as the cemetery.

We understand that the Obama people can control what is carried on their shuttle buses and what goes onto the School property where the event is taking place; we have no intention of trying to take our signs anywhere but on the public highway.

PLEASE COME JOIN US. AND BRING OTHERS.

Lloyd Danforth

You know of course that Unity is 'so' small that when Hill & Obama show up, two citizens will have to go over to the next town to make room for them.

You probably won't find one.
The current Iraq government is in treaty talks with the US on providing long term security for Iraq.

Unfortunately, Obama and Clinton aren't planning to end the occupation.  They never were.  We'll still have thousands upon thousands of troops in Iraq while Obama calls for a troop increase of 100,000 to help him fight the coming war in Iran.  Poor liberals, when will they learn that their Democratic candidates are not against the war?
