In an interview with Laura Logan on The Daily Show, she stated the US is at the highest troop levels ever in Afganistan now. 
That religion that the United States has that it can control people is being tested.  It is a tradgedy as to what is going on in the Middle East.

I missed the poppies when I was deployed the second time to Afghanistan.
The first time I was there the place was covered in red during the spring.
The second deployment it was all just brown.
