At the north end of the Waterville Valley you can find the Livermore trail. This used to be the most direct road to the top of Mt. Washington. The north side of the Livermore pass is a treacherous decent that demonstrates that the kind of courage that most adventerers today consider extrordinary was somewhat comonplace in those days.

Johnny Appleseed planted an Apple tree at the top of the livermore pass.
As recently as 5 years ago that tree was still bearing fruit.

We think thats a good thing.
