Apple cider is savory and chocolate is sweet.
They are two flavors that are rarely mixed.

And hot cocoa is delicious with a dollop of Marshmallow Fluff.

I voted Hot Chocolate. . .but this time of year there's not much better than hot apple cider and one of those cider donuts from Cider Hill.

I'm sorry you will have to be issued a ticket for using the word cider three times in a sentence.  ;D

I'm the Cider Avenger.  I avenge cider.  Mmm cider.  (better make it two!)   ;D

Cider man, cider man, does whatever a cider can...  :spidey:

Cider.  It's sweet, but crisp enough not to be sickly-sweet.  And, as Pat notes, you can mulling spices.

Hot chocolate is good on occasion, but good hot chocolate is expensive.

Plus, the Canadians probably won't arrest you for carrying an apple into their country, like they will if you bring chocolate.

I love, love, love cider...mulled, cold, hot, you name it. It's got to be cider though, this stuff that I've seen passed off in other parts of the country as "cider" is just insulting to a yankee who has grown up drinking the real thing, from wonderful places like Atkins Farms in Amherst, MA.
