Dell XPS 1710 with EVERY option you can get. Dual core CPU, 4gb RAM, 120gb 7200RPM HD (can upgrade to 500gb cheap if you need more space) DVD/CD burner, bluetooth, wifi, 256mb GFX DEDICATED!

This thing plays ANY game you throw at it and it has never lagged when I use Photoshop or Illustrator. I used to be into gaming and I am a graphic designer/web developer so I used it for all of that. figured it would be a great machine and i was 110% right.

Also have:
* docking station
* monitor stand (docking station slides in and adjusts depth wise and then monitor goes on top)
* 24" Dell HD LCD Monitor with every display option you can get - HDMI ports component vga dvi etc etc etc
* Dell media keyboard (nothing super special to be honest just controls for volume and such)
* MX Revolution mouse - by far the best mouse I have ever owned. super accurate and precision as well as rechargeable and wireless.  look them up - they rule!
* speakers (again nothing special but Harman Kardon makes a great product)
* other various extras

Yes, if you go to Dell, they have a 1730 but honestly (trust me on this) they are cheaply made and i have used them. doesnt compare.

This is the last generation of XPS before their manufacturing quality went downhill and they started marketing towards regular every day users. they are like buying an Alien-Ware machine before Dell bought them out.

You get what you pay for believe me. This system has been nothing but exceptional in every way for me. With my career change I just no longer need it and would rather re-invest the money elsewhere.

I don't expect to get what I paid for all of this stuff.  I think all together the package when bought new was something like 5 grand.  Most of that being the laptop and LCD monitor obviously.

Anyhow, just seeing if there is any interest in it.

Thanks!

5k ... that thing would have to get 40mpg on the highway for me

leetninja

it does :)

like i said i dont expect to get what I paid for it ... i guess if i had to have a price in mind it would be something like ... 1.5-2.5k

i figure if someone comes in with a decent cash offer, or a cool trade even.

id love an ATV for hunting lol

I have an XPS 1530 that I bought a year ago with the same specs as yours -- except double the HD size, and possibly a faster processor with bigger cache.  I paid ~ $1,700, and that was with all the bells and whistles: 4 year warranty, accident replacement program, yadda yadda yadda.  In Dell's online outlet, you can get a refurbished XPS 1530 with the same specs as mine...often for less than half what I paid for it.

I'm not saying your 1710 isn't a great machine -- I'm sure it is.  I'm just sayin', there ain't no way, no how you're going to get even 1/3 of what you paid for it.   :o

not sure what you have exactly but it might not be identical.  i.e. 1530s have 5400 rpm drives w/4mb cache and my 1710 has a 7200rpm with 16mb cache also the 1530 starts at a lot less (949) in comparison to a 1710/30 (1700) and also has a 15" vs 17" HD screen.  a lot of other internal hardware differences as well.  and then the physical differences are pretty major.  the 1530 is pretty much an end user machine where as the 17 is a portable workstation/desktop replacement system and basically high end graphics capabilities video editing and gaming etc.

that said i know i wont get near what i paid for it originally.    i think the 1.5 - 2.5 k for the whole setup is reasonable in general but i am also including a docking station, the 24" ultrasharp monitor which still sells for 650 and the monitor stand plus all the other goodies.  wrapped up with legit licenced software i.e. Adobe Creative Suite

thats where i got the asking price.

of course i would trade for something of value, interest, coolness etc.

Sounds like a great computer .... I just have never paid more than $200 for one in 10 years.

I'm a hardware geek.  I also happen to work as a System Admin.  Combined those two things result in me buying whatever the highest quality happens to be that i can get my hands on.

i dont have anything in the 200 range but if you wanted to put some parts together for a desktop that would be nice for normal every day home use you could probably do it for around that price.  I usually dont build for people anymore unless they are friends or family but i consider almost everyone on here both so i would do it for anyone who needed it done.
