on local am radio here in r.i. tonight a state rep who is attempting to introduce a rhode island version of the state sovereignty legislation mentioned that he has had contact with the guys in new hampshire who crafted theirs. sen itse and someone else i believe.... anyway he mentioned why he wanted to do it here. he said that some states have done it to protest against real id, some against the stimulus, some for the second amendment, he said he wants to do it here to bring attention to the federal reserve and central bank being the sole culprits behind all this mess! he said he wants rhode island to be the first state to fire the shot across the bow of the federal reserve and "back it up" as he put it. he said he is working with other legislators now on the language of it. but what really caught my ear was that when he mentioned his dealings with the new hampshire group he mentioned that they were dealing with a fema camp right outside of pittsburg new hampshire and im curious if this is true? has anyone heard of or seen it?

For RealID and the Stimulus... the State has sovereignty, it can just refuse the money.
For the FedRes System, its much more of a problem... the State's empowered Congress with the control of money and the ability to form agencies to handle the details.
So he would need either a congressional vote or constitutional amendment to change the enacting legislation.

Apparently We are still going to have Real ID in NH. Even though we voted against it and won, it has not become law.

Kat Kanning

Apparently we're still having a new jail in Grafton too.

I saw Bob's post to the NHLA list about that, that "chapter law 243-2007 was never put on the 'books.'" Although, reading through HB685, section 243:1 (the section about Real ID), the bill makes no amendments to the RSAs anyway. It just gives directives to the DoS. So I can't see what it would put on the books.
