I can't believe I didn't know this...

Hampshire:  A British breed of hornless dark-faced mutton sheep.

Nooo!  Say it isn't so!

New Sheep: Sheep that aren't going to take it any more. I hear they stand up to wolves too.

New Hampshire was named after Hampshire, England, which is both a City and County. Hampshire sheep are named after the county they were developed in, Hampshire. New Hampshire is not named after the sheep.

Yeah Alan, that's probably it.  Last I checked, NH wasn't exactly the place to go for top-quality mutton.   ;D

As an old girl-friend use to say: NH, where men are men, and sheep are scared.  ;D

TackleTheWorld

Yes, Hampshire is a sheep, but THIS is the New Hampshire.

There's also a Tamworth, NH, but I don't think it's this kind.

I believe there is also a Hampshire Hog.

There is also a type of poultry called New Hampshire Reds.  They started with Rhode Island Reds, then selectively bred for better egg laying, they also have slightly deeper plumage.

All of this is humorous, and I am big on both enjoying myself and not taking myself too seriously, however I still wonder what evil is escaping our collective eye while we all discuss the types of food we plan on raising when we get to the Free State. ???

I'm not being rude, I really wonder what we just missed, I hope someone else points it out so that it isn't missed altogether, that is the benefit of working in a group.  Some of us can be taking a break, while the others compensate for said break. ;D
