I once remarked to a cop that one of the reasons I made it a point to be polite and reasonable with them, treating them as I would any other person, despite the fact that I disagreed with many of the things that they did, was because I anticipate a day when he and his friends will be ordered to fire on me and my friends, and that I hope that on that day, he and his friends would think, very carefully, about whether the orders they had received were lawful orders.

Some are already thinking.

If there is massive civil unrest in America, and I cannot imagine how we can avoid it, the death toll will be largely dependent on how many Police and Military officers choose to the Peace Officers, as these have.

it'd be nice if they didn't shoot us, but their track record shows they care more about their paycheck than they do killing innocent people.

That's a great start and great to see!  Thanks for posting!

Sam A. Robrin

The record clearly shows that a lot of them enjoy killing innocent people.

I'm not unaware of police brutality.

I am, however, an individualist.

That means that I don't blame all whites for bad acts committed by one white or a group of whites.
That means that I don't blame all blacks for bad acts committed by one black or a group of blacks.
That means that I don't blame all cops for bad acts committed by one cop or a group of cops.

It takes much longer to judge people as individuals.  It's worth it.

That was beautiful o.o
I wasnt able to find any info on how many people had signed this. How likely do you think it is that a meaningful percentage of military and police would agree to something like this?

I suspect that most people who suspected that they would be given such orders and refuse to obey them would "out themselves" before the question was actually called, for fear of being assigned to positions where they would never have a chance to resist what was going on, or even know about it, until it was too late..

Were I a cop, and an Oath Keeper, I would keep it tightly under my hat until I was marched onto a hill worth dying on, because it's a trick you only get to pull once.

Good point. hadn't thought of that. They could sign under a pseudonym, just to let people know that there is one more person who has signed.
Still though, is there any indication anywhere of how big the list is? I'm just looking for a sign that it's something real and widely used, and not just a blog with a fancy video.

AntonLee

have you found any police that don't take stolen money?  When you do let me know.

What you say is nothing new to most of us.

We basically have no rights and things are bad in the freedom area, but things Are happening in NH, it's getting a little better and this effort is great to see.  I wouldn't sign it if I were a cop, (to protect job), but I'd certainly Never forget it either.

This is yet another good action (step) in the face of turning things around.  I think to spin it any other way is a waste of time and counter productive as we can use any help we can get! :)

I'd have to agree.

I believe that in general Libertarians are extraordinary people.  Most people are, by definition, not extraordinary.  Most people accept the society in which they grew up as 'normal', and any deviation from it as 'abnormal'.  I don't like the status quo, but cannot muster any real rage at people for failing to be extraordinary.  I would rather find those who are potentially extraordinary, and help them to reach that potential.

On the other hand, there are also cops who are extraordinarily bad.  I can get a pretty good rage going at them.  But being angry at people who have merely never accepted, or perhaps never heard, the case against the society in which they grew up is beyond my capacity for rage.

AntonLee

I'm angry at most cops because they beat people up and steal from them.  They are extraordinary assholes for the most part.  Like I said, find a cop that doesn't steal and I'll show you that he's not really a cop at all.
