So I've never sold a car before. Am tired of the cage and have decided to go back to full-time motorcycle. Any advice from the experienced folk?

On a related matter, if anyone would like a purty and comfy blue 2005 A6, let me know.

Pat K

Stay in the cage till the kid gets older.

selling it to someone you know is good .... they appreciate the car more and know you have not beaten it up ... (or that you have ;) )
i like using craigslist and ebay to buy or sell cars

i am looking for a cheap car ... i don't think yours would be in my price range

Fluff and Stuff

My advice, don't sell it.  Motorcycles aren't so good in the winter.

I've sold alot of old/crappy cars in the past.  If it's to someone I knew, I'd sell it for whatever I got it for/put into it, as long as I didn't deteriorate the value too much myself.  Otherwise, I usually buy an ad in autotrader/autotrader online that will run until it sells, and I list it for at least a grand more than I want for it.  It might seem underhanded, but nobody pays asking price for a used car.

i always pay asking price for used cars .... i don't dicker

If I don't know someone who wants it for parts, I take mine to the junkyard. They're not safe for driving after I am done with them. I always buy used and get a lot of miles per dollar out of them - including maintenance dollars.

Meh, that's why they make snow tires and heated gear. Been through a few winters on just two wheels. No big.

I tend to adopt vehicles about 10 years old and get about 10 years out of them myself.  Presently a '91 van and a 91 Jetta.

I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to save money by either getting a lower price when buying or getting more when selling.  I guess I should have said "anyone that I've known to buy a used car."
I can't even think of anyone who has paid full price for a new car from a dealer, even if the price was lowered by getting extras for "free."

post plenty of pictures and blue book info, if you price it just a touch below Kelly's it'll be gone fast
