There's a program for amputee's with missing limbs that still feel foot pain when they're missing their entire leg.  They place a mirror near the good leg and place it so the victim see's two normal legs.  after a few weeks of a couple hours a day, the phantom pain goes away.

Interesting. This explains why when you fake someone out, making them think you're about to punch them or something, they often say a very casual, 'Ow'.
