World-famous trio SMV (Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten) gets jacked at the border between France and Spain. The Spanish border guards claimed one of the two bus drivers (the one who wasn't driving) was over his time limit, and wouldn't let them pass until they paid 2,000 Euros (cash only!)

Wooten recorded it on his phone and posted it to Youtube.

Never heard of any of them.  Don't know what the acronym is for either.  I'll bet it is the same with most people here.

SMV = Stanley, Marcus, and Victor. Arguably the three best bass players in the world.

I knew about Stanley Clarke 30 years ago, when he was playing with Chick Corea. Marcus and Victor are younger. Didn't know about them until my son, a bass player himself, told me.

Another perspective on this is that the Border Patrol office was closed because it was their lunch time, that the cops taking the 2,000 euros were Spanish traffic cops, not border crossing cops, and that they were just collecting the normal fine, in the normal manner for a bus driver who drove too much three weeks ago. Don't know the reality.
