This is the whining board so here goes.

WTF!!!  Got my school tax bill today and I can't believe it.  Up 46% over last year.  These freakin' people are looney.  Absolutely unbelievable.  I'm out of here.  I've said elsewhere that I needed a kick in the butt to make me do all the work necessary to get me to move myself to NH - well, here it is.  By this time next year, I want to be in NH.  Period.

IN ONE YEAR?  ???   :o :o :o

Yes, one year!  I haven't been as upset about anything tax/govenment-wise, maybe ever!  I've been thinking about what my public response might be.  Maybe I'll paint the side of my house in BIG 2 foot letters:

                            NO NEW TAXES!

It's probably illegal.  I'm pissed.  I've got to calm down.  If there was a school committee person near me, well, I give her a piece of my mind!!!  I definitely feel a LTE coming...

Up 46% over last year.

How much did the taxable value of your house go up? Did it? Maybe the school tax in your area is incremental like Income Tax?

Assessed value is up 25% over the same period.  My net tax is up 46% over last year.

Whoa   :o  :o  :o  When are you moving, Brian?

FSPinNY

LOL.  My goal is now a firm 1 year.  October 1, 2006, or before if I can swing it.

:D  It's good to know that I am not permanently living in this nightmare in socialism.   >:(

But Brian ..... it's for the children :'(

Pat McCotter

And the increased cigarette tax here was for the children to fund their education. All of us non-smokers are going to have to make up for our lack of compassion...somehow...somewhere.

Kat Kanning

I should just take up smoking.  It's for the children, after all.
