I love when Consumer Reports says that the overall best way to ship packages is the USPS instead of UPS/FedEx/DHL/AirborneExpress  because the prices are just too good.

no shit.  When one company has to pay for its property, property tax. . . they'll tend to have less money to pass on to the consumer.  I imagine the property tax on a warehouse for UPS is a pretty penny.

I was just looking at the (lack of) tracking info on a usps package that was sent out to me two days ago.  The post office still has no tracking info on it.  In the past, I've generally received the package from them before they have any tracking info on their website.

Not to mention, the private companies have to pay fuel taxes and vehicle registration fees that USPS doesn't.
