Beginning Jan.1, the law was supposed to have blocked anybody from boarding a plane using their driver's license as ID if their resident state did not comport with the Real ID program. And Nevada Gov. Gibbons Signs Emergency Driver's License Regulation. The legislature cannot do anything about it for 120 days.

QuoteGovernor Gibbons Tuesday signed emergency regulations that will allow the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles to meet a federal deadline so that Nevadans can use the state's current driver's licenses and identification cards for federal purposes after December 31, 2009.  The regulations will enable the Department to comply with 18 benchmarks required to become "materially compliant" with the federal law resulting from the Real ID Act.
