Angel for a day

Traveling in Austin, Texas yesterday evening, at the intersection of I-35 and William Cannon Drive, I encountered a young homeless woman with a sign that caught my eye. Commonplace in a city whose catchphrase is, "Keep Austin Weird," her sign forced me to reach into my little bag of goodies and share. Although I had to backtrack down the feeder road to make a second pass, the smile I earned in exchange for the nug I gave her was more than worth it. My only regret is that I didn't have more to offer her.
