Pretty soon I will be wanting to be on the internet often while driving down the highway. What is the best service to get for my laptop.

I will not care much about privacy. The system will be tracking my truck 24 hours a day. :)

Yeah, but it's just the principle of the thing.

I don't want someone reading my mail... even the boring stuff.  Same goes for electronic communications.

I think of encryption as the electronic version of "turn the other cheek" - I can't stop them, but I can turn and put them in a position where they need to be active about it, or back down - no passive spying.

While it doesn't exactly help you while actually driving on the road, Mcdonald's often has "free" wifi....Mcdonald's it's not just for bathrooms anymore!  :P

If Verizon has good service in your area, I'd suggest a MiFi.  $60/month for up to 5GB of transfer.  Alternatively, one of the new iPads with 4G can be activated in a similar method and act as a wireless access point on the road (Verizon only -- not available with AT&T).  I think it's $30 a month, no contract required but I don't remember the transfer amount for that price.

I have a MiFi available for sale if you're interested in going that route ($30).  If you come to Verizon with your own MiFi, you can do a month-to-month service (no 2 year contract).

cool idea
I will just need to have 1 laptop going as we roll down the road. When we are at truck stops and such we can use their wifi. :)
