Just a general purpose b!tch post.

Finally got Mary's blog working again. Took a call to GoDaddy tech support, and they pointed so.verycontrary.com back to her blog. They were on the spot about fixing it, but I'm frustated with not being able to edit the template. We're going to spend some time trying different blogware, then switch over when we've found one we like.

Had a killer sinus headache all day. Blasted Texas weather... it was beautiful here today. It would have been a perfect summer day in NH, but this is February!

My finger hurts, and typing hurts. We're the new owners of a 4 year old African Grey (a Congo), and he got me, good. His previous owners loved him and took great care of him, so he's well socialized, but he just doesn't know us yet. They never taught him to "step up" onto a finger, so when he escaped from his cage and was in danger from the dogs, I had no choice but to pick him up.

He disagreed with that choice. Strongly. Caught me right in the first joint of my index finger, and started splitting the joint. Disarticulation by pissed-off parrot is no way to go, I'm tellin' ya! I kept talking nice to him all the way back to the cage, and I've been making nice to him ever since. Mary was worried I'd be mad at the bird, but I'm more worried that he'll stay mad at me. Since we'll have him for at least another 40 years, I hope to be able to put my hands on him eventually.

But on the upside, we got a very nice $1,200 bird and $600 cage, for free!  ;D  He's got a fair vocabulary, but they obviously played video games in the den, where his cage was. He's right by my computer, and has been entertaining me with classic arcade sounds all day. I get the occasional ring tone, too.

Meanwhile, my finger still hurts, and is fairly swollen.

And I've got to wade off into geek-land, looking at blogware or CMS-ware. I saw a nice news blog made with Joomla today; I might explore that one.

From all recent accounts, birds are safe around Cheney. Lawyers, on the other hand...

Want to hear my gripes?

We just got back from visiting family in SC over the weekend. Almost everything went wrong and most of it my fault. Wrong turns in Boston, wrong terminal, wrong airline, lost luggage, recovered luggage but everything inside broken and suitcase severly torn, denied damage compensation by airline, flight delays, missed connecting flight, dead battery in car, and to top it all off, I have a killer case of poison ivy from picking up trash.

But I have a beautiful grandaughter!

I'm good with that.  I firmly believe that after a nuclear holocost, the only things left will be roaches, twinkies and lawyers.  That gives the roaches something to eat I guess...

Roaches don't eat Twinkies, so the lawyers will have to do. Not their favorite, though.

Who knows, maybe lawyer indigestion will be the true killer of the poor things.
