Coming back from checking the house ( I had to take a new route ) I noticed a highway cleanup sign. That road was being kept clean by "The White Family"  :o :o   ;)

I would list Mass much much lower on my list, in the same vacinity of CA and NY. Certainly not my idea of livable.

When I looked over the Morgan Quinto rankings a few weeks ago, I was struck with the notion that M-Q must weight their ratings based on "soccer mom sense of security". i.e., a heavy police state and outrageous taxes are just fine, so long as they result in low crime and good schools, where all the children are above average...

Agreed. Most of these "ratings" view things like a high amount of police to population ratio as a good thing.  ???

any rating system that puts Mass and Minn near the top of many categories has to be screwy.
If Mass is so "livable", why is it shrinking .... with people wanting to "live" somewhere else?

Exactly... I think the best thing to do is pick and choose the statistics that are important to you. For example, it's good to have a low crime rate but then I'm sure some people would say Mass should get points for things like gun control or socialized health care.

Maybe so but NH is 2nd lowest in that and it still beats many states by a large margin.
