Who's to say what an athletic, entertainment or social event is? Isn't it a social event for kids to be hanging out in the park? Isn't it an athletic event for kids to skateboard? Isn't it an entertainment event for the kids to be sitting around playing songs on a guitar and drinking a few beers?

they are referring to an organized event...such as a schol dance or a little league game...or a concert/movie...

That's a little bit of a leap, even for you

the criteria for what is organized or not may not have even been written into the local regs, but it most certainly isn't a state designation

approved by the town perhaps...or it could have been left intentionally obtuse to allow for the judgements to be made by the local court of opinion...

I don't agree with it, but it isn't as draconian as it sounds...banning youths from doing anything at night in a community in which there is nothing to do at night is simply wasted legislation from self-important nannies...

Curfews are a joke.

They had one in Littleton at a time (or the jerk cop invented one) and a cop told me and 2 friends we needed to "get off the street and find something to do."

He didn't give any details, only that we were out "too late." It was 8:30.

I asked him if we were in a country where we were free to walk to Dunkin Donuts for coffee, and then said he wanted ID... I told him I didn't have any and none of my friends did as they were under 16 at the time. He finally left us alone.

Just a note on Pittsfield, since I live here:  the curfew exists because there is a high crime rate in the downtown area, mostly vandalism by teens.  The businesses downtown don't get a very good response from the local police force.  These kids earned the curfew.  There is a large welfare contingent living here and Pittsfield has one of the highest property tax rates in NH to make up for the large welfare contingent using public services and not paying property taxes.  Other than that, there is a lot of building going on and it's a scenic rural area with a long history.

That is so insane that a town would dump everyone's money into the pockets of the welfare contingent and then wonder why their downtown crime rate is up.
