I know about Margaritas, but they won't get my business because of their smoking ban hypocrisy. Are there any others you'd suggest? Anywhere in the state?

What's the hypocrisy exactly? I mean, if you prefer to smoke and they don't allow it on their property, I understand not wanting to patronize them, but how are they hypocritical?

The manager (or owner) was behind the push for a smoking ban in NH yet that place at the time allowed smoking.... in other words he wanted to stop smoking in his place but wanted the law to force him rather then do it on their own free will.

We went to La Caretta in Manchester and really enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip!

Italian - Sal's
Mexican - La Caretta
Thai - ???
Chinese - ???
Spanish - ???
Greek - ???

Hey, are there any Brazilian-style steakhouses, where they slice from the rotisserie at your table?

Glad you enjoyed La Caretta. There is a new place called http://www.gauchosbraziliansteakhouse.com/ in Manchester...not cheap but very fun and meaty :)

For greek food the only place to go is Athens on Central street the decor is terrible but the food and service are great!!

Chinese the best is Mie's in Pembroke/Allenstown or Chen Yang Li ($$$) in Bedford

For authentic Italian in Manchvegas -- I like Piccola (you may need a reservation) http://www.piccolaitalianh.com/

Happy eating

There is supposed to be a great place in Newport or Sunapee called 'The Red Baron'.
There is a place in Henniker that is supposed to be good.  I don't know the name of the place.

I lived in LA for 8 years.  I miss great thai food and great hole in the wall mexican places.

Try the Lakorn Thai in Manchester. There is also another restuarant in Milford that is good Thai food.
Also Taipei and Tokyo in Bedford is excellent too.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We did try Athens in Manchester a while back, but didn't like it. The olive oil at the table was stale, and the dishes were overcooked - maybe "homestyle" would be a more favorable term. If anyone knows Chicago restaurants, my kids really enjoyed Greek Islands restaurant in Greektown.

CNHT - you had mentioned a favorite restaurant in Salem at some point. Which one?

For Italian food, http://www.thecolosseumrestaurant.com/
The guy ran for office as an R, not sure how he made out.
It's not as good as MY 'real' Italian food, but it's good for restaurant food.
All the people there are from Italy, including the servers.
My aunt had her 95th birthday party there, it was fun.

Also, Thousand Cranes has a sushi all you can eat on Weds nites from 5-7PM that I frequent.

I will wait until my stomach calms down though, since I think I was infected with some raw food product.  :(

One complaint I heard frequently when we were in NH (by visitors and natives alike), is that there is a real dearth of Mexican food.

I know about Margaritas, but they won't get my business because of their smoking ban hypocrisy. Are there any others you'd suggest? Anywhere in the state?

If you want REAL mexican food the only place I know of is Taqueria Mexico in Waltham, MA.

Someone just told me that the other day.
And lucky me I will be in Waltham on Saturday.
